Face Masks in Ireland ?

We have washable   Face Masks for sale in Ireland.

Wearing face masks in Dublin or even anywhere in Ireland  does sound a wee bit scary. However wearing face masks needn’t be all doom and gloom. It might well become normal for a while to have to wear face masks on public transport or in shops.

The problem with the light  blue face masks that you see in hospitals on the TV is that they are disposable. You wear them once and throw them away. Not very eco friendly ?

We have a solution . We, at Escape Rooms Ireland,  have decided to set up a shop selling reusable and washable face masks. We are going to stock all sorts of styles and colours. It will be a little pivot until our escape rooms get back on the go again.

Our first shipment arrived in Belfast a couple of days ago and is selling out fast.

They are available to purchase on our new website Face Mask Boutique.

Above  a few links to some of the face masks available. We have another  delivery due in just under 2 weeks. All orders will be sent out first class post from our Belfast Face Mask Shop.

Post and packing costs £1.50 no matter how many masks that you order. Delivery available all over the Republic of Ireland and Northern ireland.

Face Masks to become the New Normal ?

We dont see it becoming compulsory to wear face masks everywhere in public in  Ireland. However,  it could easily become compulsory on public transport and at work. Most people have been wearing disposable face masks up until now. As the restrictions are eased, it is probable that more people will want to wear face masks in public places , just to be safe. It could well be normal for people to wear face masks on public transport in the bigger cities like Dublin, Cork or Limerick. People might want to wear them in shops just to feel a bit safer.

That is why we think that more people are going to want to have their own personal face mask to wear. People are thinking more about the environment and are looking for more and more eco friendly products. Dublin was one of the first places to close down before the government restrictions came in to place. The streets of dublin  were deserted a 4 or 5 days before the government approved a lockdown. People wanted to be safe and werent prepared to wait on the government to tell them what to do.

Where can you get face masks in or near Dublin ?

The truth is practically nowhere. We found that it was extremely difficult to buy disposable face masks in Dublin. We also had to consider the moral situation. We couldn’t justify buying masks that should have been going to the Health Service. Our solution was simple. One of our staff made home made masks. They were very simple and made of cotton.

We  found this article on CNN . How to make your own face mask.

It’s definitely worth a read if you want to make your own face masks.

I decided to look for another solution as well. that’s when I realised that the only place that we were able to order any was from China. The delivery  times for face  masks were 6 /8 weeks.  That was no good for us. after some more digging, we found some more expensive masks that would be delivered earlier.

One thing led to another and we decided on buying a larger shipment because we were pretty sure that more people around about Ireland would probably want them as well.

So Escape Rooms Ireland have set up Face Mask Boutique. It should keep us busy again until we start to crank up the escape rooms again.

Delivery will be by
First Class Post.

IF YOU BUY FIRST , WE WILL DELIVER TO YOU FIRST.

POST AND PACKING £1.50 TOTAL PER ORDER , NO MATTER HOW MANY FACE MASKS YOU PURCHASE .

Whats the best type of face mask ?

Not all  face masks are the same, so it is worth knowing which masks are  the most effective at blocking the tiniest of  particles.  In this case, we are looking at viruses. Most common types of masks that you can buy have to meet certain standards. Different standards need tested with particles of different sizes: testing with particles of 0.1 microns in diameter is the highest standard, while testing with particles of 0.3 microns in diameter is much more more standard in testing small particles.

The main types of masks that you can buy are P2, N95, KN95, FFP2 and FFP3.

Whats the difference between P2 N95, FFP2 and FFP3 face masks?

The masks offer a comparable level of protection. An FFP3 mask is the most likely to be used in a hospital environment because offers the highest level of protection against the smallest particles, which means they can block both liquid and solid aerosols.

Current NHS guidelines stipulate the use of FFP3 face masks for virus and bacterial infection control when disease is spread through coughing and sneezing . They are also often used by NHS staff when handling dangerous chemicals.

Do masks stop the spread of COVID-19 virus ?

The UK government guidance on the wearing of face masks in public  has stayed  same throughout the crisis so far: the government has advised the  public to to stay focused  on social distancing   and then washing your hands  rather than wearing face  masks in public. However, Nicola Sturgeon’s government in Holyrood has decided to make different recommendations and is advising people  to wear a masks in public places if they want to. This is much the same as in many other countries around the world but it’s not the policy of World Health Organization .

WHO policy is that unless you are  showing  symptoms, or are caring for people who are suspected to be sick with COVID-19, the public dont have to wear face masks. They think that  washing your hands and using socail distancing are best. These guidelines came under review  after research from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) found that coughs could reach up to  six metres away  and sneezes could reach up to  up to eight metres away . That kind of flies in the face of social distancing guidelines advising people to keep 2 m apart. After much deliberation, the WHO panel decided that its previous advice should stand and that medical masks should be reserved for healthcare workers and  not the general public. This decision contradicts that taken by the US public health body,  the CDC, which  recommends that US citizens should  wear cloth face masks when out in public. It would seem that even major  scientific bodies around the world are split on whether or not people should wear face masks in public.
